The Big Yellow Bus

On my way to work this morning I got stuck behind a school bus. Usually I would get frustrated because of the frequent stops and the possibility of being late to work... but this time I was able to appreciate my time behind the bus. I noticed...
  • The little kids with book bags bigger than themselves lol One kid looked like he was going to topple over! haha
  • The way the kids run to the bus and seem so excited to go to school
  • My favorite part was watching the parents as they smiled and gave hugs to their kids before they got on the bus. It was something about the look of love in their eyes. I especially appreciated one of the moms that signed 'I love you' as the bus drove away
It also brought up a lot of fond memories I had when going to school. I remember my mom was one of the only parents that walked us to the school bus. At the time I thought it made me look like a dork but now I can appreciate that I had a mom who was willing and able to walk with us. I especially remember she would wear this white Michael Jackson sweater! LoL I also appreciated my bus driver in grade school. Her name was Karen. She was always the nicest and most welcoming person. It was a great way to start and end my school day. Even to this day when I see her around driving the bus I wave! :)

Makes me think about when I'm a mom one day (God willing). I will enjoy walking my kids to the bus...
